Im Soo-hyang’s Support for “School Violence” Actor Ji Soo Sparks Controversy

On September 26th, Ji Soo took to Instagram to promote his upcoming Filipino movie "MUJIGAE," posting several photos along with the caption: "Let's go! 'MUJIGAE' - showing exclusively in SM Cinemas beginning Oct. 9! Watch full trailer here."

The post, which included promotional posters and images of Ji Soo smiling alongside a child actor, signaled his intent to return to the entertainment industry.

Initially, it was noted that Im Soo-hyang, who had previously co-starred with Ji Soo in the 2020 MBC drama “My Prettiest Moments,” was the only celebrity to “like” this post. Fans interpreted this action as a show of support for Ji Soo's comeback. However, it appeared that Im Soo-hyang had removed her “like” from the post.

This incident has brought renewed attention to Ji Soo's past controversies. In March 2021, the actor faced allegations of school violence, which led to the suspension of his broadcasting activities. Consequently, his ongoing drama projects were halted, and he terminated his exclusive contract with Keyeast Entertainment. Since then, Ji Soo has been on a hiatus, reportedly engaging in self-reflection.

Recently, Ji Soo announced his comeback through his “JisooRoad” YouTube channel. In a video titled "Movie Vlog Documentary EP. 01 The End of Tunnel," he reflected on his experiences over the past four years.

"A lot has happened in the past four years," Ji Soo shared, adding, "I've completed my military service, and I've resolved misunderstandings with friends who spoke about the issues I had."

Looking to the future, Ji Soo expressed his evolving interests, saying, "I want to make short films and I find filming Youtube contents to be enjoyable. I've also been studying English extensively during my break. I'm interested in pursuing global projects and, if given the opportunity, I'd like to challenge myself with English-language acting."

As Ji Soo attempts to make his comeback through the Filipino movie, all eyes are on whether he will be able to successfully return to the Korean entertainment industry. The brief interaction with Im Soo-hyang's social media activity has only intensified the public's curiosity about his potential return and how it will be received by both the industry and audiences.
